Campsite at the city park.

How many calories are in a gnat I wonder. A lot have been flying into the back of my throat while riding.
One of many feed lots in Kansas.
Hanging out by the $0.30 soda machine in Scott City. It was 102 degrees F by 1:00pm.
We had 24 miles until the next town of Dighton. It felt like forever in the heat and I had to keep spraying water on myself to stay awake, I thought I was going to get a heat stroke.
By 5:00pm it was 105 degrees! Crazy. We were all kind of loopy and thought it’d be best to wait until it cooled down before riding again. Two hour break at the city pool — free for bicyclist.
Cheap satisfying eats at Frigid Creme.
It was still hot at dusk but not as bad.
Kansas at night, imagining canyons and big horned sheep all around us
32 miles from Dighton we hit Ness City. We planned to go on to Alexander 20 miles away but felt way too out of it by that point. The heat really was too much and it was only going to be hotter the next day. We camped at the city park in town and used the showers at the pool in the morning.
